Newaygo County Recent Arrest Sources
Newaygo County publishes no public jail roster, booking log, or mugshot gallery. Nothing is posted for same-day arrests either. That gap does not mean no arrest record exists. The path starts with the official Newaygo County Jail page, the county's VINE service, the proper court, or a focused public-records request. Each answers a different question. The jail handles present custody. VINE tracks participating custody records. A police or sheriff report describes the incident, and a court docket shows what followed the arrest.
Any feed label should match a real source. No verified public feed exists for Newaygo County with a stated refresh time, photo policy, or fixed window. So a page marked "today" or "weekly" is not an auto-updated list. The two window pages explain how to verify the period. They avoid inventing names or charges from scattered secondary material.
| Window | Official publication found | Best verified route |
|---|---|---|
| Same day | No public 24-hour or 24/48-hour feed located | Jail, MI-VINE, then the Daily Arrest Report workflow |
| Several days | No county 72-hour or weekly blotter located | Bounded FOIA request and the Weekly Arrest Log workflow |
No Newaygo Arrest Roster Online
The official jail site posts contact details, rules, bonding information, fees, VINE instructions, and facility history. Searchable names are not part of it. No booking date, charge, bond amount, or photo can be looked up there. A missing online name proves very little. Intake may still be underway, or the person may have been cited and released. Another agency could hold the record instead.
For a current custody question, gather the person's full name and an approximate booking date. Search the county-linked MI-VINE system next. If the result is absent or unclear, call the jail at 231-689-7303 and say whether the question is custody, bond, release, or a record. Want the booking card or photograph? Make a narrow county FOIA request. A later court event belongs with the 78th District Court or 27th Circuit Court.
| Field to request | Why it matters | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Matches the person | Similar names require care |
| Booking date and time | Dates jail intake | May differ from arrest time |
| Arresting agency | Identifies the custodian | Could be city, state, or federal |
| Charge and statute | Shows the intake charge | May later be amended |
| Bond and court | Points to the next proceeding | Not a final result |
| Custody status | Shows held, released, or transferred | Can change quickly |
| Booking photograph | Asks whether an image exists | Release is not automatic |
The county's jail page covers operations, not arrest rosters.

It separates the official jail source from name-borrowing sites.
How Newaygo Arrest Timing Works
An arrest and a booking are two separate events. An officer takes a person into custody first. Jail staff then handle intake, identity checks, property, and charge entry. A bond, release, transfer, or hold can follow before any court entry appears. Newaygo County posts no web feed showing when those steps happen. No fixed delay can be promised.
Use the Daily Arrest Report for the same-day window. The weekly page covers a bounded span and news blotters. VINELink handles one person's continuing custody. Merging them into a homemade arrest list only creates errors.
- Arrest
- An officer’s act of taking a person into custody.
- Booking
- The jail intake process that creates a custody record.
- Bond
- A court-set condition that may permit release while a case proceeds.
- Arraignment
- The first court stage where charges and rights are addressed.
- Disposition
- The result of a case, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or conviction.
Where Newaygo Arrest Records Appear
Official sources identify their own scope and custodian. That matters. Secondary sites may carry older copied data, yet they cannot prove current custody or a final court result. A source's update date and record type weigh as much as the name you searched.
| Channel | Photo | Status and use |
|---|---|---|
| Newaygo County Jail | No public gallery found | Official county custody contact |
| MI-VINE | Not a mugshot source | Official participating custody status |
| MiCOURT | No booking-photo role | Public case information, not the official record |
| MDOC OTIS | May show an MDOC image | State prison or supervision, not new county bookings |
| Local news | Case by case | Selective reporting, not a full feed |
| Mugshots.com Newaygo | Historical images | Unofficial and apparently stale |
| JailExchange | Not authoritative | Unofficial lead back to the jail |
RecentlyBooked's Michigan list, the Arrests.org Michigan page, and Mugshots Zone's county list lack a verified Newaygo section. Mugshots.com does have a Newaygo page. It is dominated by older material, though. JailExchange offers general jail guidance rather than an authenticated feed, and none of these outranks an agency, court, or FOIA response.
Sheriff App Is Not Arrest Feed
The official Newaygo County Sheriff, MI app listing describes news, alerts, tips, feedback, and social posts. No jail roster appears there. Booking cards and photographs are not documented either. An app notice can still be a dated lead during a developing event, so confirm its facts with the jail, the police agency, the court, or the retained record.
The official app listing shows the store description itself.

The listing backs an alerts role, not a promise of every arrest. Newaygo County's emergency-alert page also serves public warnings, not booking research. Preserve the date and agency of any alert. If a post vanishes or changes, request the underlying incident record. Do not treat a screenshot as the whole file.
Newaygo County Arrests by City
City police and county jail records sit with different custodians. Fremont Police handles its own incidents. County custody is checked through the jail and MI-VINE. Newaygo Police offers a city FOIA form. White Cloud, the county seat, keeps its own police contacts. A person may be cited and released. Transfers, holds elsewhere, or booking by another agency entirely are also possible.
- Fremont Recent Arrests: Fremont Police records, then county custody verification.
- Newaygo Recent Arrests: city police and city FOIA, then jail and court sources.
- White Cloud Recent Arrests: White Cloud Police contact and county-seat routing.
The city of arrest alone settles little. Ask the arresting agency for the incident record and the jail for the intake record.
Newaygo Arrest Booking Record Fields
A Newaygo County booking record holds more than a basic public result. Ask for the booking card, arrest card, or full inmate jacket. Photo files, charge data, bond documents, court papers, and release material may also sit in the file. What you receive depends on what the county actually holds and what Michigan law lets it release.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and identifier | The identity used at intake and a record reference |
| Booking date | When jail processing occurred |
| Charges as booked | Intake charges, not final findings |
| Bond | The recorded release condition |
| Court information | The likely next forum or event |
| Custody or release | Whether the person remained held or left |
| Photograph | An intake image if maintained and releasable |
The bonding page tells callers to confirm the correct amount with the jail. Court payments happen on weekdays, and expressAccount offers an online option around the clock. Because a bond can change custody fast, an older arrest story may not match today's status.
Request Newaygo County Arrest Records
FOIA requests on the county form go to the Newaygo Administration Office, 1087 Newell Street, PO Box 885, White Cloud, MI 49349. Call 231-689-7234. Stated hours run weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The form works, and so does any other written format, as long as it describes an existing arrest record with precision.
- Identify the full name, approximate booking date, incident location, agency, and case number if known.
- Ask for named records, such as a booking card, arrest card, inmate jacket, incident report, release record, or electronic photograph.
- Choose inspection or electronic delivery and send it to the FOIA coordinator. A city incident may require a city request.
- Ask for an itemized estimate and all reasonably separable material if part is withheld.
- Read the response for a cited exemption, extension, appeal route, or other custodian.
County policy allows five business days for a response. One extension of up to ten business days is permitted. An estimate above $50 may require a deposit of up to half. Copy fees top out at $0.10 per page in black and white. Color and postage are billed at actual cost. Keep these FOIA costs separate from the jail's fees. The jail charges $12 per booking and $30 daily for room and board.
Newaygo Arrest Mugshots and Photos
Newaygo County publishes no official booking-photo gallery or posting schedule. A photo can still sit inside an inmate jacket even if it never appeared online. Request the image from its custodian under Michigan FOIA, and expect possible exemptions or redactions. Michigan State Police guidance notes that mugshot release practices vary by agency. MDOC OTIS is a different animal. It can show an electronic offender image. This applies to some prisoners, parolees, or probationers under state supervision. OTIS is not the county jail roster. It may reflect an older conviction rather than a recent Newaygo arrest. The official OTIS search screen is the place to start.

Do not confuse that state-corrections scope with a fresh booking at Newaygo County Jail.
Michigan Arrest Records and Removal
Michigan FOIA, starting at MCL 15.231, opens a route to existing public records. It does not force Newaygo County to build a recent-arrests database. Exemptions can shield privacy, investigations, safety, victims, juveniles, and other material. The county may grant, deny, partly grant, or point to an online source. Retention runs on its own clock. General schedule GS11 keeps booking logs through the calendar year plus seven years. Inmate jackets may be kept ten years after release. Those periods cover back-end storage, not web access or compelled release. Juvenile records follow distinct rules. Corrections and removal take separate steps. A dismissal, set-aside, sealing, or expungement may need court action first. Notice then goes to each custodian. Michigan Clean Slate covers eligible records under its rules, not every arrest image. Michigan has no anti-pay-to-remove statute on the books. Skip anyone who promises guaranteed erasure for a fee. Send documented correction requests to the source. Do the same at a secondary site whose free policy applies. The Michigan dismissal and arrest-record statute is the official text to consult.

That statute is a legal starting point, and its effect depends on the case and the record holder.
Newaygo Arrest Warrants and Wanted Status
Newaygo County posts no official most-wanted list, warrant roster, or public warrant portal. The 78th District Court reports that its magistrate issues arrest and search warrants. Suspect a warrant? Call the court at 231-689-7257 or talk with a qualified attorney. The sheriff's line is 231-689-7303. Never approach someone, attempt service, or trust an old scraped list. A warrant may be served, recalled, quashed, or amended. It can also tie to a case with no online footprint. Historical requests should carry the name, date, case number, and agency. Active or protected details may still be withheld.
After a Newaygo County Arrest
The 78th District Court handles arraignment, bail, misdemeanors, and preliminary examinations in felony matters. Felony cases bound over move to 27th Circuit Court. That split explains why one search may show an early arrest event. Another may hold the later case. MiCOURT is not itself the official court record. It can omit nonpublic or older categories. The Newaygo Circuit Court search links directly to the court's own tool.

Treat any result as a route to the court. Confirm the disposition with the clerk. Arrested, booked, arraigned, charged, dismissed, acquitted, convicted, and sentenced each mean different things, and the court disposition is the reliable end point.
Federal Holds at Newaygo Jail
Newaygo County jail holds detainees for the U.S. Marshals Service, West Michigan District. That means a person can sit in White Cloud while a federal agency owns the file. Ask the jail which agency placed the hold. Federal questions go to USMS Grand Rapids at 616-456-2438. Matching the right custodian is the whole game here, because a county cell does not make a federal case a county record.
Two federal tools can help. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 onward and refreshes daily, and it works with a register number or a name. It reports only federal custody, status, location, and release data within that system. ICE runs its own separate locator. An A-number plus country of birth is the usual route there, or an exact identity search under its current rules. A miss in either database can simply mean the person is in state or local custody instead.
Keep the lines from crossing. The Marshals apply their own privacy rules to booking-photo requests, while a county booking photograph gets assessed under Michigan law. So ask the jail about the hold first. Then contact that custodian for the underlying record. Staying on the right track keeps an old federal result from being described as a new Newaygo County arrest.
Which source should be checked first? Start with the jail and MI-VINE for present local custody. Then try a city police department for its incident, the courts for later proceedings, MDOC for state supervision, and federal locators only when the custody belongs there.
